Our Lady Queen of Families Praesidium
Our Lady Queen of Families praesidium meets on Tuesday at 7.30pm in the portacabin
at Mater Dei Church.
The members of the praesidium, working in pairs, have the blessing of the parish priest
whilst engaging in the local community.
The members are not permitted to accept money nor give out money or material relief.
The members are committed to being involved in the community with the view to
revitalising the Catholic faith and therefore drawing parishioners into a closer relationship
with Jesus and His Holy Church.
Members are encouraging devotion to The Divine Mercy and offering to each home a
framed Divine Mercy image and the accompanying prayer card. The praesidium also
distributes, Fr Gaitley’s booklet, “33 Days to Morning Glory” which explains the priceless
value of consecrating yourself (and your family) to Jesus through the Blessed Virgin Mary.
All materials are offered as a gift and therefore free of charge.
We are also involved in visiting the elderly, sick and housebound; we visit the local primary
schools when the children are receiving the sacraments of Communion and Confirmation;
in the future we also hope to encourage the children in Eucharist Adoration.
In response to Our Lady of Fatima who requested the recitation of the daily rosary we are
encouraging parishioners to gather on the last Friday of each month at the Grotto at Saint
Joseph’s Church Glenavy for the rosary, all are welcome.
We would like to invite Catholics, of 18 and over, to join with us in this wonderful grace-
filled vocation in honour of Jesus and His Holy Church as together we work to build a
dynamic, welcoming and caring community in Glenavy & Killead parish.
