St Andrew
Apostle — the first to be called
On a Sunday the Sunday itself takes precedence, and whatever falls that day is set aside for the year — which in 2026 costs November St Albert the Great on the fifteenth and St Cecilia on the twenty-second, when Christ the King is kept. All Saints, a solemnity, takes the place of the Sunday on the first. All Souls is not a solemnity, but it ranks with them, and so it is shaded with them. Ordinary Time ends with Christ the King on the twenty-second; the First Sunday of Advent, on the twenty-ninth, begins a new liturgical year. Optional memorials may be kept or passed over. On the three Saturdays that carry no obligatory memorial — the seventh, the fourteenth and the twenty-eighth — the Saturday memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary may be kept.
