Saturday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time
On a Sunday the Sunday itself takes precedence, and whatever falls that day is set aside for the year — which in 2026 costs October three: St Francis of Assisi on the fourth, St John XXIII on the eleventh, and St Luke on the eighteenth, a feast of an evangelist giving way to the Lord’s own day. Optional memorials may be kept or passed over. On the four Saturdays that carry no obligatory memorial — the third, the tenth, the twenty-fourth and the thirty-first — the Saturday memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary may be kept, four more Saturdays given to Our Lady in the month that is already hers.
