About This Praesidium

Immaculate Heart of Mary Praesidium is based in Newcastle, County Down. The praesidium meets weekly on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 AM at the Parish Centre on Main Street.

Members work to engage parishioners with the objective of establishing a welcoming, dynamic, Christian community in the parish. Each member undertakes one duty weekly in addition to attending meetings.

The praesidium is involved in a wide range of apostolic works including nursing home visits, hospital visits for the sick, and the Flame of Love Cenacle. Members serve as Eucharistic ministers, participate in the Baptism committee, and lead prayer services on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Fatima statue circulates within the parish, and miraculous medals are distributed to First Holy Communion and Confirmation students.
