About This Praesidium

Founded on 29 July 1981, Our Lady of Fatima Praesidium is based at Saint Colmcille's Parish in Holywood, County Down. Meetings take place at Gartan House, beside the parochial house, every Tuesday at 7:00 PM for approximately one hour.

The praesidium currently comprises 8 active legionaries who are dedicated to serving the parish community. Members carry out a wide range of apostolic works including home visits to the sick, lonely, bereaved, and lapsed parishioners, as well as visits to nursing homes and care homes.

The praesidium also plays an active role in supporting primary school children preparing for the sacraments and promoting the Rosary and Eucharistic Adoration.

Activities & Apostolic Works

• Home visits to sick, lonely, bereaved, and lapsed parishioners
• Visits to nursing homes, care homes, and housebound parishioners
• Delivery of the Eucharist to the sick and infirm
• Leading the Rosary at weekday Holy Masses
• Organising Saturday Eucharistic Adoration (12 noon to 5:00 PM)
• Supporting primary school children preparing for sacraments
• Promoting Rosary and Adoration among P4 and P7 students
• Church classes developing reverence and religious knowledge
