About This Praesidium

Our Lady Queen of Apostles Praesidium is based at Greencastle Parish Hall on the Shore Road in Newtownabbey, serving the Catholic community along the northern shores of Belfast Lough. The praesidium is part of Greencastle Parish (St Mary’s), within the Loughshore Parishes group of the Diocese of Down and Connor.

Members meet every Friday evening at 8:00 PM in the Parish Hall to pray the Rosary, recite the Legion prayers, and report on their apostolic works carried out during the week. The praesidium draws its membership from Greencastle, Whitewell, and the surrounding areas of Newtownabbey.

The praesidium is committed to evangelisation and outreach in the parish, bringing the love of Our Lady to the faithful through home visitation, the distribution of devotional materials, and the promotion of the sacraments. New members are always warmly welcomed.

Activities & Apostolic Works

• Home-to-home visitation throughout the Greencastle and Whitewell areas
• Distribution of Miraculous Medals, rosary beads, and prayer cards
• Promotion of devotion to Our Lady and encouragement of family prayer
• Fatima Statue visitation to homes in the parish
• Visiting the sick, elderly, and housebound parishioners
• Encouraging regular participation in the sacraments, particularly Confession and the Holy Eucharist
• Distribution of parish information and Mass times to lapsed Catholics
• Recitation of the Rosary and Legion prayers at every meeting
