Fr Darren Brennan

Parish Priest · St Paul’s, Falls Road, Belfast

Fr Darren Brennan returns to close the Rediscover the Path series in his own parish — the very place where the journey began. Having opened the series five weeks earlier with the question “What is the path?”, he now invites you to experience the answer in person: through the Paschal Mystery — the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ — and through the living encounter with Him in the Sacraments. This final session embodies the heart of the Legion of Mary’s apostolate: not simply to talk about the faith, but to lead people to a personal encounter with Christ. Legionaries across the diocese have been praying and working towards this moment — your presence is the fruit of that prayer.

About This Talk

The Paschal Mystery is the beating heart of the Christian faith — the truth that out of suffering comes redemption, out of death comes life, and that no darkness is beyond the reach of God’s love. It is the story of Good Friday and Easter Sunday. But more than that, it is the story of every human life: every loss, every struggle, every moment of despair that is met by a grace we did not earn and could never deserve.

In this deeply moving final talk, Fr Darren Brennan unpacks the meaning of the Paschal Mystery for ordinary people living ordinary lives in Belfast today. What does the Resurrection mean when you are grieving? What does the Cross mean when you are carrying a burden you cannot put down? How does the story of Christ’s Passion speak to the pain and beauty of our own lives?

But this session is not only a talk — it is an encounter. The morning begins with Legion Prayers and the Rosary, followed by Fr Darren’s reflection. After refreshments and a personal testimony, the day flows into Confession, Eucharistic Adoration and the celebration of Holy Mass. This is not theory. This is the faith, alive and present, waiting for you.

He who descended into the darkest place in the universe did so to ensure that no one, ever again, would be there alone.
