Every October, Belfast’s Rosary Procession grows into a week.
The Legion of Mary has organised Belfast’s Annual Rosary Procession for decades. In 2023 it became a week-long festival, run together with the Knights of Saint Columbanus, and attendance at the procession grew from around 150 in 2022 to more than 800.
Since then the festival has grown and developed each year, with family events, talks and testimonies, Eucharistic Adoration, Confession, retreats and pilgrimages, all leading to the Annual Rosary Procession. This year, from Monday 12 to Sunday 18 October, there are four public events, and a great deal of anticipation.

Mass at 6.30pm, then a lecture by historian A. Bede on the faith of Irish Catholics in the Penal Times.

Established in Dublin in 1921, the Legion of Mary has long been a pillar of prayer, devotion and evangelisation in Belfast. With a particular devotion to Our Lady and the Holy Rosary, the Legion has organised Belfast’s Annual Rosary Procession for decades — the tradition from which the festival grew.
Founded in Ireland in 1915, the Knights of Saint Columbanus are a Catholic lay organisation dedicated to faith, charity and service to the Church. Their motto, Instaurare omnia in Christo — “To restore all things in Christ” — reflects their part in the festival.
